The Renovated Saunatalo Opens on Thursday, September 18

The renovated entrance hall of Saunatalo offers more space for leaving footwear and outerwear. The upstairs electric sauna (the “test sauna”) is reserved only for people who cannot use stairs at all. Check-in takes place at the desk in the entrance hall.

In the renewed Saunatalo, access to the downstairs changing rooms is via the staircase in the entrance hall. This staircase is used barefoot to go down and back up.

We have tried to open Saunatalo for members as quickly as possible without compromising on quality. Please note that the completion of the new kitchen—and therefore the test runs of its equipment—has been delayed. In addition, new staff have been hired for the café, but due to notice periods their training and orientation will continue during and after the opening. For these reasons the café may not be able to offer food in the same way as before during the first days, but the situation should improve in the coming weeks.

Because the opening of Saunatalo will certainly attract a lot of interest, sauna capacity has been increased with both a tent sauna and a mobile sauna. The tent sauna is located on the seaside lawn. The mobile sauna can be found in its familiar spot.

To ensure that all interested members can enjoy Saunatalo’s steam baths, the board has decided to impose a full guest ban until the beginning of November.

For the first two weeks Saunatalo will be open every day until 10:00 p.m.

Additionally, for the first two weeks Saturdays will be exceptionally divided: men will use the first shift and women the so-called evening shift, as on normal divided Saturdays. Otherwise the sauna days will follow the usual schedule.

The board hopes that all sauna-goers will take the large number of visitors into account and give space to other members both in the café and on the benches.

Guidelines for Smooth Sauna Visits

The new Saunatalo also brings some new practices. Below is a summary of the new practices and reminders of the old ones.

  1. Whenever possible, leave your valuables in your car or at home.
  2. Your phone must be either switched off or at least on silent before entering Saunatalo. The entrance hall is not a phone booth.
  3. When entering Saunatalo, first leave your shoes in the rack on the right-hand side of the front door. Apart from the entrance hall, outdoor shoes are not worn inside.
  4. Coat racks are on the left-hand side as you come in through the front door.
  5. The check-in desk is directly ahead as you enter. Please remember to sign yourself in.
  6. The changing room of the test sauna is only for people completely unable to use stairs. If you can use stairs, please do so and leave this space to those with limited mobility.
  7. From the seaside door of the entrance hall you can reach the concrete staircase, which takes you past the massage rooms to the changing rooms.
  8. From the changing rooms, access to the sauna area and the café is via the wooden staircase.
  9. Do not litter at Saunatalo, especially not in the saunas. Put all waste—including snus and nicotine pouches—into the bins.
